Caldera // Tali Weinberg

Regular price $10.00

This book is adapted from an ink drawing. Seemingly abstract, each drawing in the series “Scapes” records Weinberg's experience of a place, observing micro and macro landscapes—from light filtering through a leaf to the feeling of walking around a body of water. The drawings are an outgrowth of Weinberg's weaving practice, evoking the flexibility of cloth and mathematical patterning of weaving, while also breaking away from the loom’s imposed logic.

Weinberg’s work is held in public and private collections and is exhibited internationally. Recent exhibitions include University of Colorado Art Museum, 21 C Museum, Berkeley Art Museum, 108 Contemporary, Center for Craft, and Gallatin Gallery in New York. Her work has been written about in the New York Times, Surface Design Journal, and the Tulsa Voice and was recently featured in “The Body Issue” of the literary Journal Ecotone. Select grants and residencies include: Serenbe Fiber-Focus Fellowship, Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition Creative Projects Grant, Windgate Fellowship to Vermont Studio Center, Lia Cook Jacquard Residency, and Caldera, among others. She is currently a third-year Tulsa Artist Fellow and a SciArt Bridge Artist in Residence. Weinberg has taught at California College of the Arts (CCA), University of Tulsa, Penland School of Craft, and lectures and gives workshops throughout the US. She holds an MFA from CCA and an MA and BA from New York University.
